FAQs

Is there a deadline for enrolment?
For enrolments in Year 1, Year 6 and Year 9 students who are in Italy must respect the deadlines stated by the MIUR - Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università, della Ricerca (Ministry of Education, University and Research). The deadlines vary every year, but are usually in January/February. There is no deadline for registrations for all other classes, providing places are available and the entrance criteria is met.

Are there any enrolment fees?
Yes. EISP - please see our Annual Fees section - has an ENROLMENT/RE-ENROLMENT fee, for each child or student, and has a 33% discount if paid before the relevant deadline. This fee is non refundable regardless if you decide not to start/continue your children’s educational path at EISP.

If the enrolment procedure for my son/daughter has been successfully completed then the place is automatically confirmed?
No. The place is reserved after the above mentioned procedure has been fully completed and the relevant payment of annual fees remitted to the school.

Will enrolments be accepted during the school year?
Yes. During the school year you can register your child/ren at our school providing places are available and the entrance criteria is met.

What are my payment options?
Payment can be remitted by bank transfer or deposit at any MPS (Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank) branch.

Does the School offer a transport service?

Are students with special needs accepted at EISP?
EISP offers an equal opportunities policy, which includes students who may have special educational needs. However, the school reserves the right to consider and evaluate the specific needs of each case in order to ensure appropriately qualified and experienced staff and resources to guarantee a complete integration and inclusive participation of the student into the educational programme.

What does Equipollenza in the IB Diploma mean?
The term Equipollenza means the equivalence of a foreign, artistic or musical qualification with a corresponding Italian qualification. In order to define it as equivalent, the comparative analysis of the qualification takes into account the academic nature, the foreign institution that has issued the qualification, the duration of the studies completed and the analytical disciplinary contents. In the case of the IB Diploma offered by EISP, our courses are approved and accredited by the Italian Government which recognizes their equivalence to the Diploma of Maturity issued by Italian state high schools, respectively in the Scientific, Linguistic or Human Sciences course paths, depending on the subjects taken.
As specified in the section relating to the High School, to follow the IB Diploma, students must select a subject for each of the 6 groups represented in the IB scheme making sure that they have 3 HL (Higher Level) subjects and 3 SL subjects (Standard Level) in their curriculum. Students wishing to obtain an equivalent Diploma must also include in their study plan one of the HL subjects required by their course path, outlined in the list below:

Scientific: Maths (Analysis and Approaches)
Human Sciences: History; Psychology
Linguistic: Italian / English / Other Language A (Literature or Language and Literature)

Students who are not interested in Equipollenza are not required to satisfy the above-mentioned condition and can choose a different subject combination for their study plan. In this case, however, by obtaining a qualification not equivalent to the High School Diploma, direct access to all Italian universities is not guaranteed and some may therefore require the student to take an entrance test.
Should you require any further clarification on the matter, we invite you to contact the EISP office by phone at +390498025330 or via email at: [email protected].
